I read the following short quotes from the Desire of Ages, pg. 824,825 this morning, and they were just too good not to share. So I thought I would share them:
“The very essence of the gospel is restoration, and the Saviour would have us bid the sick, the hopeless, and the afflicted take hold upon His strength.”
“It is in doing Christ's work that the church has the promise of His presence.”
“Where there is no active labor for others, love wanes, and faith grows dim.”
“Christ intends that His ministers shall be educators of the church in gospel work. They are to teach the people how to seek and save the lost. But is this the work they are doing? Alas, how many are toiling to fan the spark of life in a church that is ready to die! How many churches are tended like sick lambs by those who ought to be seeking for the lost sheep! And all the time millions upon millions without Christ are perishing.”
I don't know about you, but those really speak to me as being quite fundamental. I love straightforward quotes! God is so good to give us such detailed, simple instruction. I pray that I will not have a waning love and dim faith. But I also see that I need to do more than pray about it. I need to do what He has asked me to do, and that is to share the gospel like He did! Actively! :-)
I need to not spend my time where He has not asked me to spend it. He has lots of lost sheep, and I need to seek them, by His grace, instead of resting satisfied in a place where I am comfortable. And restoration is the essence of the gospel! Wow. I like that.
Through it all, we have His presence with us, if we are doing His work. What a blessing, amen?
Random quotes, I guess, but not random ideas. Hope they blessed you as much as they did me.
