A quest for original identity...

All you have to do is look around you or in the mirror... it seems everyone wants to be original, to have their own identity, to be “different” (well, almost everyone...)

We humans will do almost anything to achieve this goal. From Mohawks to neon green shoes, to daring stunts & front page news, you will see millions who are dying to be noticed. Yes, noticed... for who they are.

And, there's the flip side.

Some like to blend their identity with their culture...

The Japanese are known for their cutting edge tech...

I've been to Asia, and it seems that people in America are known for Hollywood... (I wish that wasn't the case)

Some like to be weird, so that they can feel like they have original identity. Some like to be “normal”, so they can “fit in...”

But I think almost everyone has missed the insanity of all of this.

We were created with an original identity.

God created us in His image. In His likeness.

Any attempt to live otherwise will only leave a feeling of inferiority and insecurity.

The most secure, confident people I have met, are those who are obviously living in the center of God's will. They, unlike the majority of society, have no identity crisis.

And you will notice one thing about them. They are all different! They're not carbon copies. God created us with peculiar traits of character, that will make us different than each other. (oh, and am I ever glad for that!) But, that character is something that must be conformed to the Divine image.

And if none of the above ramblings made any sense, (and if not, I don't blame you), then let me simply state what I learned today (this is for me):

Be who God wants you to be. Not what will make you stand out, or be accepted or noticed. And, I guarantee this will make you stand out. But let it be Christ in you, not you in you. If you do this, you can only be a magnet to draw others to Christ. They'll want what you have.

After all, they've been seeking an original identity. And the only one that can satisfy, was created in us about 6,000 years ago.

After His likeness.

**By the way, if you'd like to know more about what this original identity looks like, please read the book 'Desire of ages', by E.G.White. If you don't have a copy, please let me know. It'll change your life, guaranteed.
