Sorry, I have to be quite honest. I am
burdened. I'll try to explain...
It's like this: I feel like I am
becoming numbed to the worldliness of the world. Yes, I'm serious. Do
you ever feel that way? I feel sometimes that I am far too immersed
in the things of this world, but also, and this is the core of my
burden, too immersed in the places
of this world. You see, in nature, in the wilderness, God is there.
Oh yes, He is everywhere, but He is much easier to feel when you're
out there. If you haven't experienced it, please try it. You won't
regret it. But what I'm getting at, is that our enemy makes his
headquarters in town. And it's dangerous.
It's like a fire. I once read a parallel written by W.D. Frazee,
about the city. I'll try to share it, with my own ideas mixed in.
Let's say your neighbors' house is on fire. And they are still in
there. You love your neighbors, and so you run into the house, to
save them. While in there, you decide to check out their kitchen, and
see if you can come up with some ideas for designing your own. And
then, you go and see what's on the news. “What?!” I can hear you
say. “How insane!” Exactly. That is exactly my burden. Instead of
going into the house to take our time and enjoy ourselves, we save
our neighbors, and get out. When
we go into the city, it
should be to save our neighbors.
Not to have fun! Because, let me tell you from firsthand experience,
you will be
scarred. You
will be burned!
I know, because I have been. But if we are going in there to save our
neighbors, we have the protection of the Master. He's experienced at
saving people. He knows the danger, but He also knows how to avoid
it. You may think I am crazy, you may think I am an extremist. Maybe
I am. I only know how it has scarred me. That's how I can share this.
I know how it burned some of my friends to death. I guess I just want
to submit that we as Christians be on guard. And make sure of our
purpose. Because friends, if we don't, by God's grace, have a strong
purpose, there is someone who has a purpose for us. And that is to
get burned.
And
I don't want that.
Please
join me in seeking His
purpose.
Your
fellow fireman,
-Schane
Beautiful thoughts Schane. Yes - we may seem extreme to many people but re-read Heb. 11 (especially the latter part) and I am continually reminded that Christianity is made up of radical people... because we serve a radical God of love.
ReplyDeleteAmen brother. May we be willing to be radical for our Lord! :-)
Deletepowerful metaphor!
ReplyDeleteW.D. Frazee gets the credit for that one. lol. Or maybe God does instead... :-)
