Have you ever wondered if you could get disconnected from Christ, while working for Him full time?
I have.
But now, even though I am not yet into full time ministry, I am seeing that it can be easy to get disconnected from Him, even when working for Him.
You see, no matter what we're doing, whether it be full time ministry, foreign mission work, or just doing the nine-to-five job, it's not only possible, but actually easy, to get disconnected, if we're not on our guard. And how tragic, to have disconnected Christians!
I hate disconnect. Hate is a strong word, I know. But I think that's one place to use it prudently. I've been disconnected too often...
So, how do you find the balance? Souls are perishing. Being lost for eternity...
The answer is Jesus.
We know that we must be like Him. And He is our example...
"When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own." -Christ's Object Lessons, pg. 69.
And being like Him, will involve busyness. It will involve sacrifice and trial...
"His feet entered upon the path of sacrifice and turned not aside until He had given His life. There was no rest for Him between the throne in heaven and the cross. His love for man led Him to welcome every indignity and suffer every abuse." -Help in Daily Living, pg. 46.
But friends, I am thrilled to share with you... it will be Him, not us!
"The completeness of Christian character is attained when the impulse to help and bless others springs constantly from within. It is the atmosphere of this love surrounding the soul of the believer that makes him a savor of life unto life and enables God to bless his work." -The Acts of the Apostles, pg. 551.
Disconnect is not necessary to do what God is asking you to do. Rather, just the opposite.
A living connection is vital to serve Him!
And I want to always remember to have that. I don't want those dying souls to see me.
I want them to see Him.
Amen! Oh, Amen!
ReplyDeleteI know from experience that it is very easy to get disconnected from Christ even in full time ministry. And Jesus is the answer. The only answer - as I've found out the hard way.

Praise God for the work of Christ in our lives, amen? it seems, unfortunately, we often have to find these things out the hard way...
